Welcome to the 2026 WILDERNESS RISK MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE in Portland, Oregon!
On behalf of the Steering Committee, welcome to the 33rd annual WRMC! If there is anything we can do to support your learning while you’re here, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of the Steering Committee. 

PRESENTATION TRACKS

Emergency Planning & Crisis Response track addresses planning for and responding to field incidents and large-scale crises, supporting affected parties, post-incident response.

Legal & Insurance track discusses persistent and/or emerging legal and insurance issues.

Program Administration track examines tools and information for program managers on a wide range of topics including culture; pre-program screening; hiring and HR issues; diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice; and engaging participants in risk management.

Field Practices track evaluates best practices, tools, techniques, and information specifically for field staff.

Staff Training, & Decision Making track evaluates best practices, tools, techniques, and information specifically for field staff. It also focuses on effective training strategies for varied populations, including young adult leaders and volunteers; training staff in specific skills; understanding how people make decisions and designing staff trainings accordingly.

Mental, Social & Emotional Health track will cover mental health challenges and emotional risk; stress and trauma; supporting mental, social, and emotional health in both staff and students.

COFFEE AND SNACKS
Morning coffee is available on Wednesday and Thursday in the Exhibit Hall, where you can also re-energize during morning and afternoon breaks.

MEALS
Your name badge indicates if you purchased the breakfast meal plan. Simply show your name badge to the volunteer staffing the buffet line for breakfast on Wednesday and Thursday.

LUNCH IS INCLUDED FOR ALL ATTENDEES on Wednesday and Thursday!

Look for the job booth in the Exhibit Hall to post or view job announcements.
